My new employer filed my I-129 for TN visa under the Computer Systems Analyst occupation using UCIS premium processing and I am both happy and suprised to say the approval notice came in 4 days. Don’t know if this is normal but wanted to share with fellow Canadians on blind planning to apply for TN. My processing center was Vermont. Anyone know how long to recieve the hardcopy in mail?
Still need to be adjucated at the border by CBP. But from what I hear once you have the I-129 approved, it a lot smoother and denial chances at the border go down.
I've heard the opposite depending on the officer. Some officers see it as USCIS overstepping their jurisdiction. Some might suspect you have something to hide because you didn't go to border directly. Meanwhile some officers won't even look at the application and just let you through. It really depends.
Crossed the border today! The cbp officer at first acted surprised as to why I had gone through USCIS to which I said it was my employers choice and they hired the lawyers, etc. She didn’t ask anymore questions or looked at anymore documentation. Gave me an I-94 and sent me my marry way. Approved for 3yrs!
Wait till TN becomes the next H-1b. In 3-4 years, all Express Entry people will start becoming Canadian citizens
Op does not the approval of i-129 automatically gets you TN renewal? Why do you have to go through the border to get that?
Hey OP, did your new TN come with a new expiry date of 3 years or does the expiry date match with your old TN?
If your TN is approved does it mean you can directly fly in?Or will you still have to be adjucated by a border official?
You can directly fly in
