Hello, I’m a Canadian citizen, have been working as a full time Front End Software Engineer for about 5 years. In the near future (1-2 years) I would like to move to work in the US. Question 1: My Bachelor Degree is in Mechanical Engineering (2004). Will this diploma + Software Engineer work experience + Software Engineer Job Offer from US work for TN visa? Question 2: I’m considering 3 possible directions – Seattle (WA), Austin (TX) and the Bay Area (CA). What are pros and cons for each? Thank you! #tnvisa #softwareengineer #softwaredevelopersalary #softwareengineersalary
Yes, I'm Canadian and on a TN. The TN is a super easy visa. You just need to have one of the approved degrees (Eng being one of them) and a job offer that states you will be doing engineering (even if you really aren't). You'll need to have the job offer with "engineer" written on it, resume, and diploma on you at the border and the CBP officer issues you a TN stamp that's valid for 3 years.. total cost is like $50.
