TPM @ Google vs Facebook - differences

Are there qualititative differences between the TPM roles at Google and Facebook? L5+. Along the axes of respect, responsibilities, growth. At Goog, baseline expectations seem to be: schedule meetings, take notes, collate and communicate project status (and newsletters), manage dashboards, do admin work on launches etc. TPMs “support” a project team, don’t own it. Any substantive impact on strategy, technical roadmap, and ownership is difficult to achieve. Unclear how the T part of the TPM actually makes a difference. Of course, individual teams may vary, but this seems average from what I can tell. Is the average different at FB?

At FB in many teams engineers do these already..There are handful of TPMs at facebook and they are not considered first class citizens.... Aim for Product Management @facebook. They are the most impactful in most of the product teams.

I'm not sure TPMs are considered first class citizens anywhere. All the good ones I've worked with moved into EM. Every single one.

Would love to hear from FB TPMs on what their experience has been.

Why people on blind are TPM haters. I have experienced firsthand, what a good TPM can do to a program. Everything will be a shit show if TPMs aren’t there to manage it.

We've just seen so many bad ones. Yes, the good ones make a huge difference. There are just so few of them.

So let’s not generalize it. Giving entire profession a bad name because of few bad ones , is it right? I have seen so many bad engineers but do we make fun of entire engineer community.
