Not bad 👏👏

What's your YOE? Were you an L6 or L5 TPM at Amazon?

Amazon #Beowulf Jan 13, 2020

Also, congratulations on the 2 great offers.

Amazon JakePeavy OP Jan 13, 2020

15 yoe, L6 TPM at Amazon

Microsoft TwVs13 Jan 13, 2020

What’s your Amazon TC? With that level and YOE, I’d have expected more than 300k after factoring the stock growth these past several years.

Amazon JakePeavy OP Jan 13, 2020

My Amazon TC is around 270k, Bay Area. Don’t laugh, I did a poor job negotiating when joining amazon.

Amazon #Beowulf Jan 13, 2020

Thanks for sharing. Agree with TwVs13 on it. Did you negotiate?

Amazon JakePeavy OP Jan 13, 2020

Yeah, negotiated pretty hard. But surprisingly, Facebook didn’t budge much, and the recruiter was playing stalling tactics all along. Google came out with a strong initial offer, and was willing to give more stock when I asked for more.

Dell LUHV04 Jan 13, 2020

That is very interesting. Usually google is the one that falters and gives lower offers. If facebook gave a higher offer, what was going to be your negotiation stratergy ?

Amazon JakePeavy OP Jan 13, 2020

Would have asked Google to match

Amazon JakePeavy OP Jan 13, 2020

I meant, for Google, if you’re willing to lower the base and sign on, you can get a lot more stock. In my opinion, stock is the most important factor, as your TC can jump up if the market goes up

JakePeavy - How did you negotiate more RSU's? I have a competing offer from Facebook, but google hasnt budged a bit.

Google topCon Jan 13, 2020

Op, good offer. I got around the same back in 2017. With refreshers and stock growth, I'm around 380k now.

Microsoft wbdmeiwn May 2, 2020

How do refreshers work at Google?

Google dropKicked May 22, 2020

Annual refreshers vesting 25%/year.

Congratulations

OP - was your recruiter at G easy to deal with during negotiations? Did they expect you to counter when they gave you the initial offer? It sounds like the FB recruiter wasn't too pleasant to deal with.

Amazon JakePeavy OP Jan 13, 2020

Recruiters always expect you to negotiate, so you HAVE to negotiate! If you don’t know what to say, just stall by saying you’ll need some time to think it over. You might feel nervous by not accepting, but trust me, they’re equally or more anxious for you to accept.

Amazon JakePeavy OP Jan 13, 2020

FB recruiter was playing the stalling tactic with me, only when I said “thank you for your time I’m moving on”, that’s when they upped their offer.
