Why would you go for being a TPM? It’s not a great role. It doesn’t matter if the work is interesting, you won’t really be involved in much of it.
How would you be more involved in the work as an EM rather than a TPM?
The EM is ultimately accountable for what the team does. They are responsible for staffing, strategy and execution. They can lean on others for parts of this but the buck stops with them. A TPM is just a glorified note taker.
