Uber offer

Got sr eng offer recently.
175 + 14000 share

However, such value is based on previous evaluation of Uber (68.5B).

With recent SoftBank deal getting close, the company value will be 30% down, means my package will be shrunk before I join the company, so it won’t worth join then.

Am I over concerned? Is this deal short term pain but long term gain for Uber? Uber new hires what are your thoughts?

Seems like you're getting paid around the same then but in liquid money. Also FB has better bonus and refreshers. Not sure why you'd join Uber for that compensation package.

    • I’d bet op is considering uber due to reaching 4 yr at fb thus facing the comp cliff. Even with that cliff, your ongoing FB comp should still beat this uber offer handsomely with liquidity. I don’t see any reason for the jump.

OP, there is so much misunderstanding and misinformation around the tender offer that you have to make your own individual decision in the end. Sensationalism sells. Sensationalism + Uber REALLY sells. Headlines of “Uber valuation down 30%” sounds far better than “Uber employees offered early liquidity at a starting discounted bid, not unlike FB, AirBnB in the past”.

In the end look past these headlines. Uber grew over 14% in ONE quarter despite all the supposed turmoil. But of course I’m biased and there are significant risks. In the end, do what your gut tells you to. GL and keep us posted!
