Here’s my thoughts on future Silicon Valley. I think people/job will move out in the future

1. WFH being the new norm. Why stay in one place?
2. CA and ridiculous income tax. There’s decent tech hubs in Seattle, Austin..etc without income tax.
3. Expensive real estate without quality. Again. Why overpay for Silicon Valley real estate when its filled with homelessness.

Just want to point out, I’ve only visited Bay area once and I dont have much knowledge on this matter. Please correct me or comment anything that I am missing here

Wow! 🤯 You should be an econometrician. Your ability to predict the future of a geographical area with 1 vacation data point is amazing! Patent your heuristic, asap.

  • California just takes military technology funded by tax payers and commercializes it. They arent paying everyone's bills.

If San couldn’t convince you, neither will I. You can believe what you want, no skin off my back. The data and trends point away from California (Texas is debatable sure, hard to say where the hotspot will end up, but for now it’s the most likely)

Bet against California. There maybe a dip, but after a correction you will regret it for the rest of your life

Hopefully you realize California subsides most of the rest of this country. Most of this country is on welfare paid by California

  • Work from home will absolutely be the norm. Next year, vaccines will be ready but the anti vaxxers will be out in droves preventing us from crushing the pandemic and returning to normal. Also, traumatized employees will not want to return to giant open offices which are cesspools of respiratory diseases. companies will adapt and make work from home the standard mode of operation for whoever opts in. The Bay Area will still be desirable for folks who want to work out of offices and want the weather but there isn’t going to be too much more upside to the real estate market here. I’d be long other places which are good to raise a family, cheaper and desirable in other ways. Like Texas, San Diego etc

You are the most vocal proponent of Bay Area housing growing on other threads, it conflicts your assertions here.
Your comments are always pro-real estate, and reflect optimism about Bay Area real estate that may not necessarily be backed by today's facts. I do not have the time to pull out screenshots nor will Blind let me do that but your reply here sure does surprise me. It conflicts everything else you've said on other threads. You are super biased in favor of Bay Area real estate.

    • I am not and the vast majority of my real estate is in the Seattle area. You may be confusing me with someone else? Yes I am definitely pro real estate, the tax code is built around benefits for business and real estate owners. I definitely enjoy tax free income, guilty as charged! Seperately I do love the bay area and the premium is worth it for me to live here.
Feel free to search blind, you will find I am very consistent: a house you live in is not an investment, prop13 is amazing, never buy a condo, never sell real estate. I am unwavering in these beliefs but am definitely open to hearing other opinions and enjoy debating!
Which fact so you think is inaccurate:
Is wealth not at all time highs?
Are rates not at all time lows? Or
Is the government not manipulating the market and hurting folks like me from being able to buy?
I am not suggesting you or anyone else buy real estate, since I am unable to buy now I enjoy speculating on what will happen in the future. Of course I do not know but for some reason it's hard to find anyone to discuss other than people like you who ignore the argument and call me a real estate agent for some reason?

You’re forgetting the weather. Silicon Valley has the best weather in the nation. Austin is too hot in the summer and Seattle is too cold in winter and depressing raining all the time.

Sorry in that case. I thought you were being sarcastic or snarky. We were at Friday Harbor (yay WFH) and got way more. Agree one foot alone is magical for many, especially those who ve not experienced a snow blanket before.
