Curious, how many actual stock units are you getting over 4 years? Did the recruiter explain to you how the situation would change with the Salesforce acquisition?
Congrats, how are DocuSign and sumo logic offers?
Depending on how bad they want you, you should be able to push for 400 or 450 on RSUs. The days of a fixed number of RSUs are unfortunately over given the jump in valuation. From what I’ve experienced, an offer might be reviewed once but seldom more. So if it’s already been revised you should consider taking it. If it helps, Tableau is a great company to work at— good people, good challenges, great facilities. There’s some uncertainty with the Salesforce acquisition happening in the short term, with their benefits being better in some ways worse in others.
Not a bad offer. It all depends on the team.
Your offer looks like what most Senior devs get. Tableau does refreshers annually. Refreshers will initially boost you, and probably settle you back to about the same value as your sign-on by year 4. Of course things may be different then. At this point, you will probably get CRM shares. We all vest same day each quarter.
Don’t forget though — 1 full year before first vest.
Refreshers are almost nothing to some. Depends on the team, budget and other reasons. Be prepared to leave after 4 years. The 4 year cliff is real. Not sure if it will change due to the acquisition.
Also note that giving annual refreshers may be one of the things that will change with the Salesforce acquisition. From what I’ve heard, Salesforce does not give annual refreshers.
I think without refresher it is kind of going -ve what I have now so I am.not planning to accept.
Do note that I said ‘may’. Don’t make decisions based on hearsay and speculation. But in general, you should always assume you will not get refreshers when making the decision on whether to accept an offer. Just like you should never assume your stock will increase in price. Tableau is a pretty good place to work, and we have none of the backstabbing review nature so prevalent at MS.
Understood. Considering only 2 months away from September I will be touching 280 in tc so does not kind of make sense untill I get something order of 330-350k
Can I tell recruiter that I am looking for this range and gracefully decline or it will look bad
There’s nothing disrespectful letting them know you’re looking for a specific range.
