Take advantage of the great resignation wave

Just trying to layout the facts so bare with me for a second

Fact1: I’m a director and I’m told I’m a top performer/on track for promotion.
The company lacks any form of feedback system and I can’t fact check what my boss tells me (ie maybe the lead team thinks I’m good for nothing…idk).
Fact2: I know the company is struggling to attract talent and they are freaking out that they would lose employees given the hot job market.
Fact 3: they fast tracked me to a bigger job and didn’t give me a salary increase almost 1yr ago. I asked then and asked again 1 month ago and my boss said I’m already paid competitively

My hypothesis: given the pressure to retain/attract talent I should be able to get more.

The question is HOW?

I’m thinking of telling my boss I have been contacted by several headhunters (which is true) offering Sr Director/VP positions (also true) with more competitive packages (this is an assumption).
Should I consider these options given they don’t give me clear signs of appreciation (eg salary increase, above average bonus, promotion)?

There is not much to lose but I’m undecided on
1)who do i have this convo with? My boss, my cfo, my mentor? Who’s more likely to help?
2) how do I position it so to minimize hard feelings and maximize support?

Thoughts? Ideas? Questions?

Salary talks shouldn’t happen until you first secure an offer from another company. A) your company will likely counteroffer if they value you as an employee or B) you get a new job with a company that values you. Always know your value and worth.

      OP
That would make me look like an opportunistic mercenary…not to count I have stock options and pension that I would lose moving to a different company

If the your TC including options + pension of your current job isn't as good as the TC including options + pension of your job offer, then the job offer won't actually pay as well as your current job.

I came here looking for advice on how I can take advantage of the great resignation wave

Edit: OP decide what you want, share this and your Best Alternative To a Negotiation (BATNA) with your employer and read Never Split The Difference.

Most important thing is to decide what you want, independent of others expectations on what you should be doing or could be doing. Don’t be a slave to that.

They already said no to a raise so just take advantage of the wave and get a new job. Hard to make a case without another offer.
