Though afaik you can not file jointly given you both have different status and you will have to use different forms to file.
Unless you pass residency test and you’re also eligible for file as resident alien then you can file jointly and in that case you have to pay social security tax regardless.
But yeah better to get advice from your tax advisor.
I’m in the same boat and filling jointly.
