I recently interviewed with Google for a role as Senior Software Engineer by referral of a few people that used to work with me. My self-assessment of the interviews, from 6 interviews (including phone interview), is something like:
- Very good: 4 interviews.
- Average: 1 Interview (can lean in both ways, not coding).
- Very Bad: 1 Interview (coding).
I was convinced I would be instantly rejected (my impostor syndrome?), but the Recruiter reached me out one day after and told me "good news" and that they had enough evidence to move me forward to Team Matching - curiously, the Recruiter already had 2 teams interested and I will start to meet HM next week! After I insisted about doing Team Matching before the Hiring Committee, the Recruiter told me it was a common procedure (?) and the goal is to increase my chances with a Statement of Support.
I'm now confused, as the Recruiter was quite vague about what feedback I received - and I read different opinions on what TM before an HC can mean (weak interviews, low headcount, and so on).
What do you think? Do I still have any hope of receiving an offer or my chances are gone? I'm asking that because I'm expecting a (really good) competing offer from another company but I really would like to join Google and I might need to make a decision soon...
TC: ~150
YOE: ~10
UPDATE: After weeks of silence, they scheduled a call with me without any description and a vague title. I was convinced I would be rejected in the call but I got a job offer with no down-level!

There is also a chance you get downleveled after going through HC, though.
Good luck tunnuman!
In total, it took almost a month from starting Team Matching to receiving an offer (the longest being waiting for the HC answer).
