Team matching before HC @Google
Hello Blidners My google onsite packet was positive, however the original role that was targetted didnt go through. This is for L6+ TPM leadership position. Went to team matching and found an exciting team/match within 2 weeks. Now moving to HC next week. Is that a normal process? Shouldn't HC happen before Team matching? Compensation was not discussed yet, which seems strange to me. Any feedback? TC 520k YOE 17
It was a direct conversation with the director and his peer to find match and some selling from their side.. From the recruiter, I got some how a scrambled feedback about the interview major vectors, leadership skills, communication skills.. didnt answer all my questions.. but given that the directors went through the packet i was able to know more from them as well.. Compensation happens just before offer, along with executive review. They seem to be playing around with order of HC and team match. For SWE, stronger applications tend to go straight to HC, but it might be different for TPM/management loops.
Thank you. I was trying to figure out if they are trying to build a stronger case for HC.. is it a negative or positive point.. maybe i am reading too much into it
If the original role fell through, they might just be making sure there is a team for you to join, who knows. Probably don't worry about the order too much.

Team match and HC review happens in parallel. Nothing to worry about team match happening before HC.
