There's been a lot of talk recently (including a blind post yesterday) about FAANG moving to NYC/Hudson Yards by 2022. If these plans are planning to hire 20k+ workers by 2022, when will the big hiring wave start? I am looking to move to NYC at the end of 2020 so just wanted to plan the timing. Example article https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2020/01/05/nyregion/nyc-tech-facebook-amazon-google.amp.html Thank You
It will also alleviate tech bros' mating problem. Too many hot girls in NYC.
Who cares. NYC have a lot of good jobs already.
Lots of tech jobs in finance but severely lacking in FAANG relative to Seattle and Bay Area. Regardless, how can more jobs be a bad thing?
It's not a bad thing. It's just it was never a problem for NYC .
What is the point to move from Silicon Valley to NYC? Oracle moved its Open World to Vegas because San Francisco becomes a very expensive but shitty place. NYC isn’t better. If they want to move, go to Colorado or New Mexico.
I don't know but they are and I want to be there
New Mexico is underrated. I love that state.
Honestly I don't understand the infatuation with NYC on blind. It's dirty, expensive, people are less friendly, Subway sucks and smells. Seems like most people are thirsty but the male female ratio isn't all that different from other places and the kind of girls in fashion in nyc wouldn't be interested in tech guys
I live on the East Coast and don't want to relocate to Seattle or California. Also I personally like NY. I'd probably like Seattle too but whatever.
We really don’t want you here anyway, so win-win. Also, lol that you think the women in NYC are all in fashion.
Amazon is hiring now in Hudson yard, lots of headcount
Maybe I should start applying sooner rather than later. I was going to give it 6 months.
What teams/divisions?
Start now. Good time for job hunting. You can always push your start date specially in some of the bigger companies.
I just accepted a job offer near me and will be starting next week. The pay isn't very good but I need to get some more relevant experience. Planning to learn as much as I can in the next 6 months and then jump ship when I'm more qualified.
