I’m currently working as a data scientist in a tech company but am getting more and more interested in the finance world. I probably won’t be switching into purely a finance role but maybe a tech role in finance industry. Any advice?

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?
TL;DR: finance grass looks very green until you get close enough Unfortunately, there is no baseline for tech roles in finance. At some places, people in finance consider a "tech role" within finance doing macros in excel or writing SQL queries. At some others, tech roles are for people that put dashboards together on some data analysis platform. IMO, neither of those are tech roles. There are some solid finance roles where the work actually influences product, forecasts, inventory/bookings, guidance for the earnings calls, etc. However, getting the trust to have one of those jobs at a large company will take you years of closing the books at the end of every month and every holiday. The finance path is rough. So rough that this is one of the reasons you see so many finance people going to coding bootcamps or MBAs to reset their careers in a different field. I am not saying you should not do it, but make sure you make an informed decision
+1. Just do DS at a fintech company. We’re hiring. Also, DS here is sick of doing finance shit rather than ML because we don’t care about it. You, however seem like you might.
