Tesla hate

What the heck is up with all the hate Tesla is getting? Elon just fired some self driving peeps, there's a groupie Twitter gang trying to "expose" Tesla is a failing business and propped up by investment. Some even claiming Tesla is a ponzi Silicon Valley company, wtf?! A ponzi company? They are building and selling products (cars) and I've met many ppl who just love their Teslas. I don't get where all this hatred is coming from, for those who work or follow Tesla closely care to explain?

I love my Tesla and everyone I know that has one love theirs too. The fact that it is software based is a great advantage people still don't fully appreciate.

When you have a lot of hype people have a lot of expectations, and not all of them can be fulfilled.

Amazon syndclaire Jul 13, 2019

1. some, not all, but enough Tesla owners are insufferable douches that think their choice of transportation morally elevates them above others. 2. Elon Musk is a brilliant but unlikable blowhard that generates a lot of backlash. People especially in the investment game find it ridiculous that he can say and do things that get other CEOs fired or worse without consequence, purely because of the Tesla hype. 3. Teslas are great cars, but they're not perfect. Auto enthusiasts are annoyed by the shallow fan-worship that Teslas receive from the public, when better options exist. Same reasons why a lot of people didn't like Apple and Apple fanboys.

Among EVs what are some better options?

What better options and is that why Teslas aren't meeting sales expectations?

When fanboyism is so thick, its hard not to have counters. Newton's 3rd law...

It's like the saying goes: "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

And then you are caught being a fraud.

Tesla šŸ‰ā›ˆ Jul 14, 2019

What's the fraud? Elon making outlandish promises? Guy is too optimistic sure and unrealistic with timelines, what else is new? But we do actually make a product that people enjoy at the end of the day. I don't see any other manufacturer with dedicated fans like ours. Why are they fans? They legitimately like the product.

Intel Spikiera Jul 13, 2019

The more successful you are, the more haters you have. It's normal. Maybe people actually don't hate the brand itself but just the hardcore fans

PayPal LeJunior Jul 13, 2019

Unpopular opinion: Elon is an overinflated asshole who was told one too many times he was a genius. He started believing it so he stopped using the muscle he has over his shoulders.

Microsoft Teslanos Jul 26, 2019

He literally recycles popular science projects with SV VC, albeit unprofitably, and everyone thinks heā€™s the first person to to ever think about anything

There was a great article on how all those media are being funded by big motor corporations.

Tesla InmR60 Jul 13, 2019

After being in the company for a year. I realized tesla over promises on every front. Forces engineers to work 80 hour weeks to meet these promises tha elon tweets at 4 in the morning and then we still under deliver. One great story I have from tesla is when elon tweeted a service feature to be out 2 days after the tweet and my team was still over 2 weeks away from finishing it but middle and upper management falsely made claims to make themselves look better and we had to work 16 hour days to push out an untested broken feature

A company I worked for ran a super bowl ad on a product that I was working on even before we were code complete. Sadly, many companies over-promise and under-deliver

Amazon Waze Jul 13, 2019

That Tesla story is terrifying. It's bad when you overwork engineers and push untested code. It's not like you are pushing code to a website that sells stuff, where the worst case would be someone went be able to buy shit. But you guys are pushing code to cars and lives depend on correctly functioning software. If I ever get a Tesla, I am definitely disabling over the air updates. But after reading this, I don't think I want to be in a Tesla. We need to have tougher laws and regulations on developing/testing/deploying software to safety critical systems such as automobiles. I think it is a matter of when not if before this happens, but the question is how many people have to die before legislators act.

Every generation has its consumerist boogie-man . In the 80s/early 90s, it was the yuppies with their Lacoste shirts, Benetton sweaters and BMWs Early aughts was Prius. Then came iPhones and Teslas. As a company itā€™s an enviable and terrifying position to be in. It boils down to ā€œthey hate us cos they ainā€™t usā€. Regardless of whether Tesla survives or not, we will have a new target of our ire by 2021. Now taking submissions.
