He has blocked some foreign students from entering and discouraged others from working during school. He is considering banning the spouses of H-1b visa holders from working in the country at all. The harassment campaign appears to be working. H-1b applications are down, as is the number of visas being issued to overseas students: Itâs hard to see what this accomplishes other than whipping up enthusiasm from Trumpâs anti-immigrant base. It stifles the flow of foreign students to the research universities that are the best hope for an economic revival in declining regions
The people who came before you just want to make sure that they dont allow anyone else who is or can become better than them.
I am leaving America + ditching my green card. Not everyone is obsessed with America and high TC $$$. I am leaving US for Vancouver to be close to family, gf and friends. Taking a 50% paycut but no regrets. There are plenty of countries with amazing opportunities (Germany, Canada, GB) if you don't like US immigration

Again, just because someone is here on a working visa does not mean they are more capable than those here. That is the core issue. Am actually glad they are making it harder.
A lot of h1b are not all that super skilled. At Uber we have recruiters, marketers, and account managers on h1b. Itâs a system that is being abused in ways it wasnât intended. Itâs fair for American workers to have concerns about this.
Oh, ffs. It hasn't become much harder! I got my first h1b in 2007 and went through the same hurdles like lottery and such. Trump is a dumbass, but you can't blame him for everything.
Why do you care? Itâs America and itâs supposed to be for Americans. Isnât it?
