Anyone else hate how the CEOs of startups promote death camp culture on twitter and other CEOs circlejerk it? Is this a way of normalizing horrible WLB and develop the next billion dollar unicorn gulag deathcamps? Screw these exploitative assholes. E.g:
No its pretty understandable. They are working their asses off because they want to be rich as fuck. And usually when you're the CEO you are a cofounder or have some incredible comp package. The problem when they expect those working with and for them to have the same level of dedication with 1/10000 of the comp.
I used to work at a startup where the CEO took about 3x the vacation I did. Then he would try to get pity points for sending a few emails while on vacation.
The exception?! These are the kinds of CEOs that think it’s ok to blow through millions on their bloody hobbies Willy nilly without a credible plan that respects the lives of those who are along fir the ride with mouths to feed
Or maybe it's quite possible to have a personality where work is your hobby and you don't mind working hard? And those are the types of people VCs invest stupid amounts of money in?
Right but my point is these folks also expect their workers to have work as their ultimate calling.
Would you rather they be upfront about their desire to have employees with similar ideas about wlb or lie and tell them a 9 to 5 fairy tale?
Twitter is only for circlejerking.. people just spout nonsense just for the sake of social media fame
Isn’t Jason Lemkin just saying he worries about ceos that work too much?
Holy shit he's a douche
> the next billion dollar unicorn gulag deathcamps lulz. but yea you basically have to be a psychopath to run a VC funded company, it's part of the game
If work is your only hobby then parts of your brain are likely underdeveloped due to a genetic malformation or... by choice?
They’re at the top, why wouldn’t they advocate for something that makes them $ first before everyone else.
