Companies that have built massive, scaled platforms have been some of the best long-term investments. Facebook, Amazon, Google, Apple, Netflix, Microsoft, Salesforce, Shopify are just some examples. Looking at earlier stage companies, who is building the next great scaled platform? Let's see what the Blind hivemind thinks.
Airbnb?
They definitely own their space. Their revenues are SO low though considering their dominant position
Their service fees are an arm and a leg. Not sure why their revenue is low.
Stripe
cloudflare and stripe
Roblox: gaming platform Plaid: fintech platform
+1 to Plaid
I've heard Roblox mentioned like this before. Do you think it has staying power, or is it just the gaming platform-of-the-month? Don't want to invest in another King/Zynga 🙂
Without any question, databricks. AFAIK, Stripe isn't pushing any boundaries similar to Google, fb,Netflix, Amazon.
I need to read up more about Databricks. What makes them a platform vs just another Enterprise service?
There is an entire generation of engineers and data scientists that are growing up on spark for all their needs, whether appropriate or not: analytics, streaming, data warehousing etc. Although expensive, for them databricks is the defacto platform for managed spark

Good call. I agree ServiceNow has real platform potential
I don’t understand why service now is a platform
Snap: AR platform.
Rover: dogs are family! + $2 billion market cap.
Stripe?
Lots of votes for Stripe. Interesting. Are they differentiated enough to be the dominant player in their space?
Yeah I feel like they’ve become a solid payments service provider. Lot of small companies including leetcode using Stripe. I’ve heard it’s super easy to integrate and great product.
