There is wlb and there is job security's

Good wlb but bad job security (high pip rate but work given is reasonable, eg Amazon) Bad wlb but good job security (lots of work given but low pip rate, eg ?) Bad wlb and bad job security (loads of work and high pip rate, eg FB, Netflix) Good wlb and good job security ( ideal state. Eg Google, Microsoft)

Do you want to make money or not and retire early?

Facebook hugehead Jun 25, 2019

OP would rather make $1 every year for 100 years than $100 in one year.

Google whrislarry Jun 24, 2019

Google doesn't have good wlb throughout. There are few teams with good wlb, but good part is you might get laid off because AI replaced you!

Oath Atinlay2 Jun 24, 2019

Those things are not related. You can work 20 hours a day and still get laid off.

Amazon H2x2i1210 Jun 24, 2019

At Amazon we have both bad wlb and high job insecurity

Amazon eztP64 Jun 24, 2019

As with everything, this mostly depends on your team.

Amazon qwertyui0p Jun 24, 2019

I for one have amazing wlb and job security.

Amazon eztP64 Jun 24, 2019

Same. Even though we're at evil Amazon.

Amazon fumbledore Jun 24, 2019

Been on two teams and both were a shit show. Dev lists come out and stress happens. It’s just awful. The dirty secret is they don’t want you to vest. They try to get rid of you before that

Walmart.com QXHR44 Jun 24, 2019

Walmart is good wlb and definitely high job security. We thrive in recessions.

Amazon Amz Jun 25, 2019

Amazon has good WLB? Are you out of your mind? Look at the vesting schedule - you wouldn’t have RSU vest in 3rd and 4th year alone if the burnout attrition wasn’t high enough

What is the question, OP?
