Thoughts on relocating to SF/SEA from Detroit Suburbs
I make 120K with 4 years exprience in Detroit. I always wanted to move to SF/SEA to join top tech companies. But I’m quite not sure If I can make enough base salary to afford a similar life style in SF/SEA Note: I have listed few pros/cons as per my opinion. - Affordability in Detroit suburbs is so good you can buy a luxury house for 500-600K comparable to 1-1.5M in SEA even more in SF. - Tech career is amazing in SF/SEA. You get a chance to work with better minds. Please share your thoughts/opinions to factor in before making a switch. #seattle #bayarea #Detroit #relocation

Unless you’d be getting close to 3X your current TC, I’d say don’t move. If you do, expect a drastic reduction in your standard of living.
double that comp just to be even in SF and that might be understating it. might need to make 300K here to be comparable
