Interviewing with TikTok SWE core services. I'm looking to get some insights about the culture in this org and potentially the different sub-teams within this org (e.g. org isn't toxic, any red flags, infamous 996, etc). One of the best orgs to join in terms of learning. At the same time, since it’s such a crucial team, expect longer working hours (meetings at night with Chinese team).

  I start my workday around noon - 1 pm most days in exchange for working in the evening. So yeah it’s completely reasonable to start later in the day to deal with the need for evening meetings.

  You can flex your hours to accommodate late night meetings by taking multiple breaks or starting later but you’ll definitely have late night meetings there’s just no way around it

Totally agree with with everyone that the people are crazy chill and very collaborative. Like total opposite of battle royale culture. But you will be working your ass off like 12 hours per day with no wlb whatsoever. It’s a trade off for sure.
