I'm interviewing for a Sr. PM role with TikTok, and they want to extend an offer. However, they won't share an initial written offer with me until I tell them what comp I'm looking for. I've punted a couple times and told them I'd like to see their initial offer first, but they won't commit. I'm thinking of throwing a sky-high offer out there, but I'm not really sure what sky-high means since the ranges I've seen are varied. I'm hoping to get the following questions answered from the community: 1) What's the average Sr. PM comp at TikTok? 2) Should I throw a sky-high offer out there? If so, how much? 3) Is this typical behavior? 4) If this is atypical behavior, might they pull the offer? TC: $140K YOE: 4 (1 in PM) #product #tiktok #offer #negotiation

Can you provide rationale behind this?
Greediness
Are they in california? I believe it is the law there that they have to offer a range if asked.
I mean it's a role that's technically in multiple locations so I'm not sure if it applies
it may apply if you are based in california.
Are you applying for a US office? I remember getting an offer without being asked anything
Yeah I want a US office ideally
I've heard in SG they ask for info like previous salary. I was wondering if you're talking to a US recruiter for a range.
which city is this? aren't they supposed to offer first
Do you know at which level 2-2 or 3-1 you are being considered and do you have any competing offers? Which location is the role based out of? It’s based on all these factors.
for 2-1 mountain view, would 200k base and 400k stock over four years be the ceiling?
SDE?
Following - in the same negotiations process with bytedance for PM role. Feel free to DM to discuss more
Thanks for following-up here; did they share a target comp with you? Unsure of what's reasonable
What happened? My recruiter also wouldn't share an offer number before I gave a number... Super frustrating to just hear a range as that's not a place I can start negotiating. What ended up happening w you?
How did this turn out?
No updates so far, the infamous Bytedance recruiting 👻 lives on
Still??!
Following- I am in negotiation process as well. Can anyone share their offer details ? I am looking for reference base and TC number
Can you share the role, level and org?
I believe I will be getting an offer next week, so wanted to ask this thread for TC I can expect. Role is Program Manager, 6 YOE (almost 4 at FB) and I think the level will likely be 2-2. Is 150 base + 40k+ in RSUs reasonable? I bring very very specific and relevant experience for what it’s worth
Bay area and technical program manager? Feels like you could ask for more. What's your level and comp at FB?

Do people underestimate E6 role at meta?
How serious are you on playing this game with them. If not deadset on joining, just say that if they can’t provide a number there’s no need to waste time and move on.
Seriously, it’s a pretty insulting thing for them to do this. I’d borderline walk over this alone unless I really had no other alternatives.
I'd really like to join, so I'd be willing to play the game for a bit. Just want to make sure I'm not playing chicken too much tbh.
