Times you've made a big mistake?

I'm a new CS graduate and working a job as a full-stack developer and some part time devops. In AWS, I was deleting an instance I made but apparently I had selected one of our production instances in our cluster at the top of the page (but I was scrolled down that point so I didn't see it). The cluster setup wasn't that good so our web app went down for an hour. It was fixed and everything was fine but I felt terrible. Has this happened to any of you guys before? #devops #software

I'm really new to this company so I'm not sure of the business impact yet. It did affect a few customers though

Cheers, that’s ok. Take this as opportunity to improve the teams operations.

I made mistakes all the time in my old company. It wasn't an issue since we didn't have prods. Just planned firmware releases. May god help me at my new job.

Live and learn If they it is so easy to break accidently, is it really your fault and would you be the only one to do it?

SAP jin yang Feb 1, 2020

If I was your manager I would have thanked you for breaking the system and then asked you how can we fix it so that such things can be avoided. And if your manager or team makes you feel bad about it, it is a red flag and consider switching. Don't worry, it happens!
