Hi all, I have tinder onsite in 2 weeks for backend engineer position. What should I focus on? Has anyone gone through the interview? What to expect? Any advice is appreciated.
Backend engineer sounds better suited to Grindr.
Bring condoms
Wear a rubber dude - I hear they get around... like a record
I hear being backend is a pain in the ass there... maybe you should try front end
Or at least give a reach-around to the front end... to be polite
Make sure you have pictures showing the various fun sides of you on your profile. Something serious, something active, maybe something nonchalant showing off your body a little without seeming cocky. Bio should be short, unique, and funny. Always ask for an offer shortly after matching, recruiters get bored easily and have lots of other options on standby. Good luck, be safe.
What will you answer if they ask you where do you see yourself in 5 years
Just to make sure that I have an exhaustive list here - Places where you can work and no one on Blind will take you seriously (no matter what the TC): Tinder, Bumble, really ANY dating site, Juul What am I missing?
@djikstr@: usual distribution is 2-3 coding rounds, 1-2 system design, and lunch (culture fit). Stuff varies by team - suggest asking your recruiter to confirm the details. Coding varies from LC easy to LC hard (depends on the interviewer). For system design, we care about scalability and resiliency. If you don't have practical experience with working on distributed systems at scale and load (up to thousands of QPS), focus on the fundamentals and try to proactively come up with ways to address those kinds of issues. We don't expect people who haven't worked with those problems in the past to already know everything, but to understand the theory and to pay attention and adjust when we point out an issue with a proposed design. Gl!
