I have an on-site for SWE at LinkedIn in a week. Anyone who has interviewed at LinkedIn recently care to share some tips ? Could be about the final preparation, or anything you felt that the interviewers were looking for in particular. Any help is appreciated.
In general, interviewers want you to succeed. The emphasis during the interviews at LinkedIn is on communication and the process of getting to a solution. You should have a solution on the whiteboard at the end, but your interviewer shouldn't care too much about missing semicolons or other trivial stuff. If your solution is not optimal, make sure to take some time to discuss alternatives that would be more optimal. This may vary significantly between interviewers, but they're the general guidelines for interviewers.
Sorry, not related to your question. But you are at Microsoft and Microsoft owns LinkedIn, right? So how does that work? You are applying at your own company without your own company knowing it or is it an intra company transfer and you just don’t know the culture on the other end?
Different company, different hiring systems, different interview loops, different hiring bar. Each company cannot see each other’s hiring data. All MSFT employee must interview as an external hire and vice versa.
Yup, switching from Papa Nadella to Papa Weiner ain't easy.
