Has anyone been fast-tracked for early promotion? If so, what are the most important factors playing in the promotion and how did you increase your chances?

    I took on multiple stretch projects that were considered over my head for my “experience” level, made sure my ideas were heard on calls with leadership, pursued certs, and worked on personal projects off the side of my desk to solve problems I was seeing throughout the org. Speaking with confidence about what you know while being transparent and admitting to what you don’t goes a long way.

    Most importantly, don’t do these things for the end result of being promoted. Do them out of curiosity and a genuine desire to self improve and the rest will follow suit

      Would typically say it goes back to taking the burden off your managers shoulders or anticipating blockers for the team and getting rid of it before hand. Once you have a list of these blockers and problems. Tackle whatever you find more interesting and present it in that order of things you have taken cared of.

    Do your job well and thoroughly without supervisor assistance. Get good enough at it so that you create bandwidth for yourself to take things off your supervisor’s plate. When you want to take additional responsibility from them, be specific (here’s the opportunity I see, here’s how I would approach, here’s why I have the skillset/capacity)

      I would agree with the advice here. It really pays to be proactive on tasks and in fact, drive the project as such. Managers really appreciate that kind of initiative.
