Been in the auto industry for 6 years. And it seems like compensation has been declining yet work load has been the same or even more. Currently A sales Manager at a Nissan dealership. Tired of 12-14 hours workdays, no personal life at all and working every single holiday except for christmas day. And having only one day off a week. And no actual good benefits at all. Looking to make a switch but do not know which route to go that will pay the same or more doing sales. At the moment tc is TC:$144k But have made up to $244k in a year as well is there any other options out there that will pay anywhere close to what i have made yet have a better schedule and decent personal life?
taco is wise indeed. look for companies that offer rigorous training programs to ramp up their new people. consulting, tech, finance, pharma.
Thanks. Any companies in specific that you might recommend looking into? And I’m guessing that compensation varies depending on the actual field that I pick
i am not smart on where the biggest TC or best training/development programs are... make sure to join 1 or 2 professional organizations. get a masters or certificate. network your butt off on LinkedIN. have a long-range vision. pursue whatever jobs & corporate values fit with you.
Go work for a mid stage SaaS company, and sale their software. If you are good, can easily earn your current comp. At my old start up with a sales team of 30 people, the top guys in enterprise (mid 30s). Close 1 contact that’s totals 1m. Commission is 30%.
That’s a great option! Any easy way to find some of these companies and apply towards this position? I’m definitely really good at sales and have manage a lot for my age in the auto industry. So I believe I can do great at this
Look up SaaS for an account executive role. Salesforce, Zendesk, Concurr, Asana, Slack, etc etc. Interview normally will be you pitching something. From there the sales manager will assess your skill and offer you a position. Sometimes it will be a sale role. If you are not ready, you’ll be qualifying leads before getting promoted to a sales roles. There are so many of these roles you won’t believe...
What are your hours currently? How many hours are you willing to put up with learning tech stuff per week?
Current hours are 14 hours a day for 6 days a week which comes down to an average of 84-90 hours per week. I’m willing to put the same amount of time I’m currently doing to learn tech stuff and to advance in any field at this point honestly
I've heard AWS sales get $$$, might be worth a try.
If you can sell software, there is. How tech savvy are you?
Definitely open to any option. I’ll say that I can be decent with tech/software. I’m only 25 and definitely can learn quick and get the hang of stuff fairly easily. Have learn great skills in the car industry as far as sales, leadership, training, taking a lead and learning and adjusting fairly easily
Then you should definitely invest. Which city do you live in?
