I accepted an offer from a startup (~150 ppl) with a good salary bump (~+25% base), stock options, and a bonus. I told my manager that I wanna leave, so he proceeded to bump my TC by 66% (25% base, and the rest in stock), and also promise to remedy some of the issues I’m having in my current team. Now I’m torn between staying and leaving. On the one hand, NVIDIA is a successful company, it’s doing world-class work, and has a ton of solid work to do. On the other hand, a startup is a more lean environment, but also more volatile potentially. The question is: what is the best step to take here? Do I stay, enjoy the salary/level bump, and work on different things within NVIDIA? or do I bounce, and see what goes on from there? Also, what would happen if I decline to join after I signed an offer? IC2/~$145K
Do you have very good relationship with your manager? Are you still learning? If so I’d stay and enjoy the nice salary bump for another year or so. Team, people and culture are very important as well.
I like my manager, but I’m not currently learning as much as I would like. My manager promised to fix that though...
Stay for 6 months and then re evaluate
This is sad that they only raise your tc when you show an offer... They should have done it earlier if you deserve 66% raise
Yeah I agree. My manager said that he was going to give me a raise anyway on my focal, but not this large of a raise.
Leave
Hope you ended up staying lol
