Has anyone else ever felt that everyone at Apple blindly believes in whatever bullshit comes out of management? I have never seen another set of employees so blindly following their company. E. g. In one of the recent all hands, a CXO mentioned how Steve Jobs cursed her and her mother but she stuck around and now she is 20 years in the company and very proud. Everyone now treats her story as inspirational and credits her for sticking around. I think that she was spineless to be bullied around and let her mother get abused by an egotist. Am I the only one who finds this behavior toxic?
Is this from IST?
Dude you gave too much details, the CXO you talking about is Isabel Ge Mahe right?
Canโt be Mahe only joined after iPhone.. also cxo titles arenโt common ,only place I see it is under Luca..
Every company is a cult. Every company needs a way to motivate its employees to do work for them. Imagine being in their (executive) place. Tim Cook cannot design a chip Andy Jassy cannot do replication Pichai can build a search engine Mark cannot do deep learning The only way they can make u do things is if they make u motivated somehow in things they care about. But are unable to do. Amazon โ Beat the drum about customer obsession so that you are ready to suffer the severe pain of tech debt and mediocre engineering thinking ur pain is worth it so that the customer can be happy. FB - Make them believe so much in network that they are willing to work for a thing that has seriously bad effects on society. And if u cannot motivate if pay them ridiculous money. After all that what East coast finance company also does Google - Hire people who are attracted by only engineering quality so that they are willing to work for a product that could be sacked any day. Apple - See If they are blind believers of Steve Jobs. If so, job done. Else awe them with talks about changing ๐, highest quality, customer focus so that you are willing to tolerate secrecy, tech debt etc. Gotta say - Google sounds the best of the lot.
I could use some extra kool aid
We prefer the term Apple Juice
If anything, leadership principles and bananas are the kool-aid!
Man, when doing Amazon on-site, the focus on those leadership principles made me feel like I'm joining a cult.
The irony that autocorrect failed you.
