  Visualvm and jprofiler are really good. Very basic and simple to use on a local dev environment. Visualvm is free and comes packed with java jdk, jprofiler I believe is paid. This is assuming you are a java stack. For enterprise production server level, you need more than just profiling, you need instrumentation, you can try HP diagnostics or maybe Appdynamics.
