Been in the US for two decades waiting for green card for almost a decade… How is this fair? https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/an-american-family-stranded-in-india-by-our-dysfunctional-immigration-system/2019/10/03/1a07c1e0-e5e3-11e9-a6e8-8759c5c7f608_story.html PS - while I find his stubbornness on not buying new clothes ridiculous I understand what he’s trying to say ..... but not buying new clothes is not gonna make anything better ... So Dr. Mazumdar please buy some new clothes ( specially because it’s holiday season in India 😊 )
This is fucked up
Clickbait article. The article writer has not stated what the reason behind the hold up is. Did Saurav commit a crime? Did he submit incomplete documentation? No one knows. Until the full details come out, I don’t think we should read too much into this article.
On what ground were they held up? I couldn’t figure out from the article. Also 75-115 years? Is that real or hyperbole?
Idk man. I agree with this article, but this "journalist" looks like a Democratic Party agent. Washington Post has also been a critic India's Right wing ruling party, and spoke on the sides of Islamic extremists and Communists in India's scenario.
Take back your taxes and social security $ if they decide to send you back with interest. This country has no value system for humans more for votes.
Taxes are paid for the common goods while you live here, such as school, library and road. So you can’t really “take it back”. SS is always yours no matter where you are or your immigration status. But I could be wrong.
They don’t pay SS and Medicare to non- citizens but deduct it from paychecks of H1B
Dude no matter the crime if it’s not too big to deal with this should not be the case after 20 years - it’s a freakin India phobia !! When people are flooded through the gate - 20 Million- no one asks anything. But this guys waited 20 years !!!! It’s shameful for Democrats!!
How come he has been in the states for 2 decades but only applied for GC 8 years ago 🤔 and what's this obsessing with staying in US ? Why not go to Canada ? Yeah sure less TC but peace of mind
If he came to the US 19 yrs ago, he should have had his green card by now.
Listen, the government doesn’t want to fix the H1 GC issue! The request to extend GC to Indians who have been working in US from past 10+ years has always fallen on deaf ears! So what do Indians do now? Take risk and be prepared for the worst! In this case, Dr Majumdar took a risk and thought getting a visa will be a cake walk and then he got hit by a surprise...

At least Indians are privileged to have high paying jobs. Look at the refugees who are living like dogs at the border. They are the true victims. We need to help the undocumented immigrants first!
Why don’t we help everyone simultaneously?
Sarcasm in case one can’t detect it
