Anyone knows what is going on at TRI-AD in Tokyo? Whats the TC like? MS + 2 YOE neglectable TC (¥)
Wow that’s really on the low end given how they present themselves on their website “Silicon Valley + Japanese craftsmanship blabla”. Was this for a senior role?
え!
People who gets transferred from mountain View to Tokyo get a sweet deal. They basically get paid the same TC as here which is a sweet deal

Anyone with concrete TC numbers?
I was asked my current base salary and they calculated my offer based on that. Which is silly since the cost of living are very different between Japan and Europe. They offered me a base below 6M, ~3M bonus and ~3M sign on. Current TC: 12M Quite a joke considering stated in a public newspapers that this company would pay salary depending on people experience, not on their previous base salary. A lying company is not a good start.
Oh so did you end up taking it? How much can you save after all expenses?
No I declined it. Without the sign on, it would have meant a minimum of 30% decrease in my current TC. They also kept telling me how badly the COVID-19 situation affected the company, so the bonus they promised could actually be lower. So 30% is an optimistic value. Their offer is sub par compared to what the market has to offer. With 5+ YOE, I would not expect a base lower than 10M. On top of that, I was not convinced by the company itself. They say they want top tier company engineers, but they are not ready to pay as much, and the interview process was dodgy: people arriving late, being asked to share my screen to see me coding, and so on. Worst is, I have seen comments along those lines from 2 years ago, which means they are not making any improvement. TL;DR Tri-Ad is a startup that tries to act like a big tech company but doesn't deliver.
I felt that I needed to share this with the world. I'm a contractor at TRI in the US. I just got an offer from TRI AD (Tokyo office) on the promise that I would have a Silicon valley salary. The offer is 50% of what I currently make. Stay aware from them.
What's your background? Did you initiate the transfer?
Any more information or updates?
TRI AD = Woven Planet Holdings = Woven Core (IT) + Woven Alpha (Business) + Woven Capital (Investments) I joined Core a few months ago, they don't pay US salaries. It is an OK place if you want to live the Japanese experience but the place is a mess. With a PhD my salary is about 140k + signing bonus. There is no equity therefore makes no sense to be fully invested in the company. So far the products they have are a bit disappointing (Arene and AMP). This place is run my people that come from academia so it is chaotic.
How’s the talent?
Can you breakdown into base/bonus/YOE etc. Are you in AI/ML? For Tokyo that TC is not bad I reckon. What is that silly name though.

That’s all base? What’s the TC? Tokyo offers would be way below I imagine
MS+2yoe gets base 250k+ is impressive
