Does your company limit or ban you from trading stocks? I’m not sure about mine but I am considering starting to buy individual stocks and was wondering if it’s a common thing to have policies? Who or where would I go to find out what I can and can’t do?
Most finance companies do have a policy on trading stocks (typically you can do it but you have to get pre-approval before every trade). If your company has such a policy, they will surely have mentioned it on your first day. In fact, every company I worked at required me to fill out a form once a quarter swearing that I haven't made any unauthorized trades. Are you really not sure who you would ask about this? Don't you have some kind of compliance department at your office? If so, ask them. If not, ask your boss.

Very common to have policies. We aren’t allowed to trade individual stocks and must only invest in very broad based baskets such as index ETFs. It is definitely something you should check. We are probably more tightly regulated though as FINRA registered.
