Has anyone made the transition from working in Apple retail to HQ? What was the process like? And how often does this happen?
It’s not that rare lol sorry man
I know many people who have done this (mostly into some form of an engineering role, QE etc.). Nearly all came in as CEs.
Problem is if you do so as a CE without a degree you’re going to get a low paying non engineer position lol
Not true. My friend got a job as a QE 4 months into his 6 month CE. He has partial college education for music theory and that’s it. He makes 40k more than I do and I have a bachelors degree. My friend is a QA on Apple Pay and they also pay as much as I get without a degree, If not more. Software is where the money is so go that way.
Myself and several of my friends did! Your best chance is to do a career experience. When you’re down here express your interest in moving to corporate early, and that will allow you to gauge whether their dept has openings. I also recommend checking out careers@apple and finding jobs that interest you and emailing the recruiters from those ads to meet for coffee.
How could I go from being a part time genius while in college to getting an internship with Apple without doing a CE?
Because my managers are going to make me wait another 6 months to go Full time then 1 year for a CE
Your school may have an internship program with Apple
A lot of my friends went to Cupertino after working retail. They had a career experience and got hired and never looked back.
What is “CE” being referenced here? Can someone explain? Career Experience or College Experience?
Tell us more about your background. What do you do in retail and what you are looking for in your career? Like are you an Associate who wants to do finance or are you a store Mgr who wants to move to ops ?
A store lead looking to move into sales and business development in the future.
