If she gets extradited to the US, China is going to have to prove themselves. I really hope the US has good enough proof to back this up. However I will be surprised if trump lets this lady get locked up in a US prison.
I wouldn't be surprised because Trump surprised us all the time. He had the gut to issue Muslim ban overnight, what's stopping him to lock up one person? Maybe Trump will issue a travel ban on Chinese for no reason, and then Xi will issue a travel ban on Americans. It will be funny to watch Trump's show as always.
It will be so fun to watch the trade war gets escalated into employee-arresting war between two countries. Let the drama begin!
Chinese citizen arrest is not as part of this trade war. That is based on IRAN ban. high profile Cisco employees better not to go
In California a company can’t stop you from doing legal activities (like traveling to China) in your spare time.
Just some points of fact. China is not apart of the Iran sanctions, in other words not illegal was done in trading with Iran from the Chinese. That being said, she is not a US citizen, conducting business in the US or on behalf of the US. So I am confused as to how this is not state sponsored kidnapping. It is a crazy line to cross, when you start arresting citizens of other countries in other countries, for performing legal activity in their country.
You have some basic misunderstanding here. It would be legal to sell pure Chinese products to Iran, but it is illegal to sell Chinese products that contain US technologies (like computer chips and software). When Huawei got these US tech, they signed documents that specified that these tech cannot be resold to a list of countries including Iran. To work around this lawful restrictions, Huawei made deals using puppet companies and faked them up with banks, which also are subject to the trade ban
Thank you for the clarification Seahawks.
Just go and tell us
Does that mean that people cannot visit their families or vacation in China?
Oh you can visit alright.. you just can't come back
If you are just a code monkey, go ahead no one is going to bother arresting you as you have no value. If you are high ranking VP or executive, be careful you might end up in the same situation as Meng in China. China's sanction laws are more nebulous and confusing than the US'.
