Is TripleByte any good? What was your experience with them like? Will probably repost this tomorrow cuz it's late and probably won't get many responses.
They got me a few onsites for a little bit of screening and 2 hrs of ph interview But really I used them too late in process.
Not worth it if you have a traditional cs background in my opinion.
Umm I tried them over a year ago. I did an evening video call phone screen with some girl in her living room that seemed oh-so-thrilled to be there. I got rejected at phone screen. And then I got hired by Google right after. Iâm not bitter that they rejected me; I likely wouldâve accepted Google over whoever they set me up with anyway. But the interview wasnât a pleasant experience and maybe their process needs (or needed) some tuning.
I also interviewed with them too, did the phone screen & all. They rejected me after the phone screen & then I got hired by Facebook. Also, I am not bitter I just think they suck at spotting talent.
I don't think it's about TripleByte spotting talent - you two are just highlighting how fucking awful Google/Facebook/our industry is at interviewing.
It was pretty good, got a few offers from startups for minimal effort (a few on sites). The matching part is interesting, since you get to interview the company during a pitch call where they sell you the role and why you should go on site with them.
I did it once, my senior year. It's an interview that you specifically have to prepare for ahead of time; they send you materials. I didn't prepare and so failed the interview. I've heard good things about them though
Failed their interview because they were asking questions about C. Got offers from 5 highest tier companies. I think TB is for junior engineers
Was interesting. Their interview let me know of several big gaps in my full stack knowledge regarding databases and general web infrastructure. Because of that they didn't move forward with me, but it wasn't a waste of time.
Same thing with me but they still decided to move forward. Told the interviewer in advance I have no knowledge of database.
Speaking from exp of clearing the test â The companies listed on the homepage weren't the matches I got, initially felt maybe I didn't do well in quiz but then none of my friends got matched with any of those companies as well, which makes me suspect the homepage company listing is a sham? Most of these unknown companies shut shop within a year. so not worth it in my opinion. Now a friend owns a YC company & they were made to opt for Triplebyte. (ex-partner of YC is the Triplebyte CEO) From an employer side too, its a joke I gather.. His views below. 1. There is no way to verify if the candidate who took the online quizzes are real 2. Instead of the Talent Manager vetting the authenticity of the candidate, they help them cheat in the interview. Eventually the startups that hire suffer from engineers who are not competent. How did they raise $35M is beyond me!
I didnât pass their video interview because I missed questions about C. Got many better offers elsewhere. I would recommend Hired over them
