I’m a FB engineering manager at m1 managing a small team.
I’m currently in an engineering manager interview loop for Amazon and just passed the screening interview. But the recruiter is asking me to apply for a L5 role instead of 6 since I’m managing a few engineers at this point.
How’s the componensation compared to my current TC? I googled it and seems like I need to go to a significant pay cut.

Amazon keeps raising the bar arbitrarily so they can low-ball you. Amazon SDE2 is like a bread toaster - you go in, stick around in high heat until your stocks vest, then get spit out burnt and charred.
