Are you doing a ton of deep learning experiments or just screwing around? I'd probably just rent time from one of the cloud providers unless you *really* need it.

$1500-2000 buys a lot of gpu time.

  Simple stuff, Google collab is decent. Real workloads, all of AWS, GCP, Azure offer gpu instances. GCP has TPUs too.
  
  @JSC I haven't done the math but I thought mining wasn't very profitable for individuals anymore.

Just get a cheap card. You’re getting hosed with a high end card. NVidia, which is very fond of money, cripples all their consumer cards for DL. If you’re running at 50% speed, might as well just do it slower and cheaper. Or, just rent the compute like others say. You can engineer yourself a decent price for compute. The 3090 level is basically a mortgage payment masquerading as a video card.
