Instead of having to return to office after covid, why don't I apply and get a job at Twitter (USA), permanently move to India and work from there? That way I can save more and be closer to family also. What they don't know can't hurt anyone wrt state tax implications¹. I can perhaps use a friend's address in the USA for getting mails. WDYT?
1 - I continue to pay US federal and state taxes (if I claim to have a CA address for example) even though I don't stay in the state. If anything it might be the Indian Govt that I could owe some taxes to as far as the substantial presence is concerned.

You want to pay that state's tax and federal tax? Well, for one, residents receive deductions that you will wrongly claim, that's tax fraud. Company claims it employs people in your state and maybe gets tax breaks for that too - another tax fraud.
If you are H1-B, your LCA says your work at certain place, while you are staying in India? Both DOL/Immigration fraud.
And I didn't even google search for any, just from the top of my head.
