Hello, I am starting my interview process with Twilio for a mid level PM position. Any words of advice on the interview process and how to best prepare? Thanks #productmanager #product #pm
We tend to stress cultural fit in our interviews so here’s what to expect. In your first round you will talk to a recruiter first about your interest, job experience and why twilio. Familiarize yourself with the Twilio magic. Look for a page on them on our website. Use the STAR method to prepare. Next you will have a 45 min zoom interview with the hiring mgr. The questions asked here will be targeted for job competency and at least two twilio magic questions. The last round is basically a loop interview where you will have back to back interviews with a break in between. It can happen all in One day but due to folks being almost all remote it will be split between 2 or sometimes 3 days. Focus will be on job skills (Ie how do you prioritize asks from multiple stakeholders) Out of the 4 to 5 interviewers there will be one bar raiser where they will ask you the toughest questions but mostly around cultural fit. everyone will ask at least one behavioral cultural fit question to assess the twilio magic in this round so be ready with situations and most importantly what you did and the results/outcome.
Thank you so much for your reply. This is very informative and I appreciate it. Looks like I skipped the recruiter screen and will be directly interviewing with the HM. I guess since I was referred to the position. There is an interview guide for the engineering positions, however, it covers the Twilio magic. I will start there. I will also keep you in the loop regarding how things go.
Our PM interview process is a hybrid of the loops done at Amazon, Google, and Facebook. There will be more behavioral-type questions asked in the loop, but we look for strong fits in product sense, execution, and stakeholder management. If you have any previous experience working on API or distributed systems products, be sure to bring that up with the HM.
Any examples of the questions in the HM first round?
Also interviewing with Twilio for a PM position. Can someone share their experience from the hiring manager interview?
Hi looking for examples of product sense and execution questions for pm role at twilio
Why leave ancestry? One piece of advice - recruiters would let you go to next level if you clarify them that you are comfortable with api design, some code base etc. Though if the position you are interviewing for has a specific focus, get an understanding of that.
Ancestry’s pay and type of work is too low and not satisfactory. We struggle with org shifts on a half year basis. My PM career is dying and I can’t ship any product like this. I worked as SE for years before becoming a PM. I always make sure that recruiters get that. Any good prep courses / blogs?
