What's the deal with Topgrading at Twitter, is stack ranking people a preview of what to expect from the culture there?
Here is the format: 1. Talk about every job 2. What would that manager say about you (Good things and areas of improvement), they ask names of Managers as well 3. Highs and lows of the jobs 4. Why did you change (If you changed jobs) 5. Make sure you focus on impact
Do they contact said managers?
No
Thanks!
Topgrading as implemented as prescribed by the creator is awful, assumes all candidates are liars. Twitter's "topgrading" panel was fairly typical behavioural interview - they shouldn't use the term it has such bad connotations for anyone who googles it.
It's not stack ranking. It's a behavioral interview.
yeah, it's just a weird name for a behavioral interview. The interview setup and questions are fully predetermined though and your recruiter should be able to tell them to you. I'd suggest you to prepare for this interview a little. I didn't do any prep years ago and failed because of this interview alone. Just took me a while to come up with answers.
