Hello, Could folks evaluate this exploding offer from Twitter? I’ve to respond to this before EOD on Friday. It is a staff level SWE position in SF. Base: 225k RSU: 750k / 4 years Bonus: 25% (target) Total: ~468k Sign on: 25k YOE: 15 I’ve a few other offers yet no final numbers and with one not even preliminary numbers. The other companies are not being as nimble as Twitter for me do a true comparison. Hence I thought it would be appropriate not to include their names to prevent bias. The others could get me a higher TC but WLB is almost my top priority. Twitter has mentioned that this is the best they can do after 1 round of negotiation. The recruiter when he presented the numbers yesterday afternoon said I’d have almost a couple of weeks to decide on this. Then he called back an hour later stating business has reduced the deadline to this Friday. I would really appreciate your comments and insights. Thanks!
I think I should’ve asked this question a little differently. What factors besides money most folks use to decide on one offer over the other. From my lack of experience with interviewing and changing jobs I could only think of WLB.
How about the obvious one of your level of interest in what you’d be doing? Also stuff like perceived quality of the team. Whether you genuinely liked the people with whom you interviewed and if could see yourself working with them (if Twitter actually has the hiring team actually interview you). Longer term prospects for the company, if you plan to stay awhile. Resume “prestige”. Probably many more but those are a few many of us use.
Wow!! Thanks! I had thought about those things but did not put them down on my list. This really does opens up many more dimensions to evaluate the offer.
The offer looks great actually
From what I've seen that's a pretty solid offer.
It seems reasonable offer
Its a good offer. Dm me if you wanna talk about the team you might be joining etc and other people on there
Smooth - of course anonymity is so passé
Really good offer. Consider office culture in Twitter and the new company, wlb, how the work is.
Oh look a Infosys consultant spotted!
Which team?
Congrats.. how was the interview?
My opinion about the interview is subjective as I can only compare it to ones I’ve gone through. I have not had interviews at companies like Google or LinkedIn or Apple. The phone screen was surprisingly very pleasant. I had to implement a data structure from scratch and comment about its complexities etc. There were a couple of follow ups that made me change the implementation however I completed it with quite some time to spare. In the last like 15 to 20 mins we were just shooting the breeze talking not just about Twitter but also other tech happenings. The on-sites were a little difficult in the system design section. I had 2 of those and they were related somewhat to the team’s mission. The coding one was actually not just algorithm but also a little bit of OO design and concurrency. The behavioral was basically a run through of my resume starting from my first job. I hope this helps you!!
Thanks. Surprisingly I find blind a nice place today
Solid staff offer. What team?
Please add current TC and why leaving ION.
I’m not with ion. I was but I left that place many moons ago. I’m an independent contractor hence TC is fluid. With freelancing the somewhat uncertainty of projects and pay makes a position with a company seem more stable.
