I'm trying to decide between these places for L4. I like the team at Pinterest a bit more. What do you guys think? Twitter: 310 - 185 base/ 125 RSU. + 45k sign on (Year 1: 355) Pinterest: 330 - 190 base/ 140 RSU. + 60k sign on (Year 1: 390) YOE: 3 TC: 250 #Twitter #Pinterest #Job #Offer #Interview
Wow I didn’t know Twitter can offer this high, last year they gave me 300k RSU for SWE II and recruiter was saying that’s the max offer they can give. Congrats btw.
Thank you! I got "strong hire" in all the rounds in both companies. Hence, I was able to ask for more
I think both are awesome! Pinterest gives refreshers. But Company business model is poor. They have huge bet on Shopping but it will take long time for execution and maturing. But Twitter is rocketship 🚀 ( huge potential) - Huge investments in R&D - Solid features being rolled out on the App - Increased customer retention - Increased customer time spent on the App - Diversifying source of income through Twitter Blue, Spaces, Data Licensing, Twitter Shops, Tipping Content creators etc apart from Ads In my opinion, This is the best time to join Twitter as share price is at rock bottom. Twitter has shown huge resistance around $32 and didn’t go lower than that. I would not be surprised if Twitter trades at $150 a share by 2025 Now relevancy of platform? Will Twitter stay relevant unlike FB app? Yes, Now why? - Twitter’s business model has been 1:N which means content creator can reach out to masses. - With Time, People have realized the power of personal branding. Lot of people like us are getting aware and creating our own brand. We don’t need to be celebrity but you could be good at something and you can form your own audience like LinkedIn. Let’s say if you are good at Product management? You can have following based on your niche. You are good at System design? You can have audience based on your niche & content. You are researcher and researching on Astrophysics? No problem go and form your community! Share results and engage with your crowd! Future Celebrities come from the audience. It will be as common as YouTube, Tik Tok. Also, if you are a professional? LinkedIn is super common but now having Twitter would be a new normal. Where you can share your thoughts on any tech topic you like etc to your audience. Passionate about distributed systems? Go ducking create a ticket space and talk about it. People will come to listen and learn from your experience.
What do you think about Pinterest stock?
It will take long time as business model is poor. And leadership has poor execution
Twitter also has a 15% annual bonus whereas Pinterest doesn’t, right? That makes the TC more even
Yep, you're right
As an Engineer in Pins, I learnt a lot from twitter’s engineering blog and open source project. I doubt twitter engineers learn a lot from Pins engineering blog and open source projects. But I do think we have a better upside but twitter has a safer bottom side
Love the bottom side protection.
Depends on the team at Twitter, but generally I'd probably choose Pinterest given those options
Both are trash, try FAANG
