Hello blind, Everyone is focused on twitter layoffs, but clearly the service can't operate with only 50% personnel. Take any cloud service - it is impossible that 50% of people are useless. So, my prediction - twitter will aggressively hire back, maybe not 50% but close to that.
Hiring is expensive, add the cost of ramping up a new hire. He does not plan on growing head count significantly in the near future. The message is pretty clear.
I think Elon Musk's logic is: if there are half less people then the remaining people have just to work twice as hard. And he did what was necessary to keep the ones capable of doing so
I've heard from people working at SpaceX, Tesla and boring company that hours are long. His belief is that since he's putting the hours everyone should
Very true. I interviewed at Tesla once and all interviewers mentioned working 60+ hours/week on average with 80+ hours/week happening quite often.
Since most of the teams fired today seemed to be related to policy and content moderation, we will see spike in hate speech and trolling. That will lead to more advertisers to pull off putting more financial strain on Twitter. It will be interesting to see how Elon navigates out of this.
I think it was necessary to clean up the cult mentality at Twitter. Lot of people there are part of cult mindset. Any person with different opinion is cancelled. If they clean up 50% and hire new folks then company could be balanced in terms of ideas and opinions. Cult always drink lot of kool aid and always have a herd mentality. 🫡💙
Yeah maga lovers are definitely a cult.
I forgot LinkedIn folks are also culties [IN]coming ?
You need more than 3000 people to run Twitter .. ? Why ?
But will get they top talent when they start hiring again? I’m not sure why people would go there if there are options. The employee brand has been compromised.
Lol Twitter will _want_ to hire people soon that I’m certain. Whether anyone will want to work for the chief twit will be another matter.
There will always be people who adore Elon who would want to work for him. Eg Tesla has employees still working for it even after all the extra hours and lay offs
Different industry, web services are not manufacturing and hardware. No one I know in this same industry wants to work for this ass clown. The rate he’ll have to acquiesce to paying to deal with his bullshit will outweigh the salaries he just laid off mark my words
We’re about to find out. Nothing is clear here though.
Twitter workers say they work about 4 real hours a week. I think Elon is going to stress the system. Not only is he outright firing 50% he expects attrition from RTO. Those that remain I’m assuming he will monitor their efficiency.
Going to be a very dark period for Twitter in the next year. I predict wide spread outages, data breaches and an absolute halt in feature development once the first one or two features are cranked out.
Given twitters slow pace of feature development, there’s not much of a slow down coming
