I need to decide whether to accept a second Google internship or a Microsoft offer. I know that getting a second Google internship would better my chances at getting hired for a full time position, but having two big companies on my resume would make it stronger (?) Who would you hire? Some one with two Google Internships or someone with two internships at two different big companies?
definitely one of each is better for your resume. And for good reasons. You’ll know far more about what you want to do after one at each, and having both companies compete for you when you convert to full time will push up your price.
The value of experience is invaluable
No having microsoft on resume dilutes your resume strength
This, you will also learn bad habits and regress at MS
Absolutely, during the course of 3 months these interns will become incorrigible and have too many bad habits to count. Lol. I can’t believe you seriously think that. Let’s not encourage lazy narratives here. @e6dfc6
2 goog is better. Msft is bad for your cred. Go msft if you’re going to retire after
Internship, like job interviews, are as much about you learning about the company and deciding if it is a good fit for you as it is for the company to decide if they want you. If you loved your Google internship and want to be full time there then do another Google internship but try for a different department. Large companies can be very different between orgs. I think it is very good to try out multiple companies. You might love it at Microsoft and you might not. Better to learn this in a few month internship than to get a full time job at a company you regret a few months in. Having a few months internship at multiple companies shows you are already highly valuable. Having a few months full time positions at multiple companies looks really bad and will be career limiting. I give this advice independent of company. You have to decide which culture fits you best.
Google to Microsoft is a downgrade in my opinion
Take the second G internship: 1.it increases your chances of getting a G FTE offer. Since G is a much better company than MS thats a big advantage. 2. MS is no longer a brand name. It used to be once, but not any longer. Having it on your CV will be much less stronger than having two G internships. 3. There are higher chances that you will work on interesting projects @G than at MS. Even if you dont, just by being exposed to G's frameworks, infra, and code you will become a better professional. At MS you will mostly learn how not to design systems and how not to write code.
There are plenty of boring and shitty jobs at G or MSFT. Better to be in a better team at one company than working for the sake of resume/brand name.
Do the second Google internship if it’s with a different team / function. Focus on growth.
If the offer is in Bay Area, I would say go with Google. If it's Seattle, go with MSFT. Focus on growth and impact so you can convert your internship to full time upon finishing.

Do you really think Amazon is that bad
All my friends who interned at google their senior year never got return offers and had to re recruit all of senior year. They said google had been extremely bad about rehiring interns in the exit interviews, etc. This might not be important to you but letting you know just in case...
+1 many of my friends who interned at Google also didn't end up getting return offers. I think you'd be better off interning at Microsoft for getting a return offer. And you can just interview at Google for full time offer.
Don’t you get automatic return offer after two internships at Google?
