Reasonable start date after offer

Once you get an offer, what’s a reasonable start date to ask for? I feel burnt out after COVID, would really like to travel for at least a month maybe even two, is 2 months from offer date too much to ask. I don’t want to piss off the hiring manager

  • Depends on the company but 1-2 months is common.

    You can easily get 3 months or longer. I have seen people joining after 6 months.

    It’s both ways, you are loosing salary increase and company is getting a resource little late.

    If you had some kind of special circumstances to point to, maybe you could stretch to 2 months. But otherwise a month is reasonable without being off putting. A friend who’s a single parent negotiated for 2 months to allow her son to finish the school year and then relocating across the country including selling her home.
