Typical yoe for L5/ E5 at Google and Facebook
Title Of course there are outliers but on an average what's the usual yoe for this levels
I think the younger L5s tend to be those who started as new grad out of college

l4 in G = l5 in Fb, l5 in G = low to middle l6 in Fb, as a whole levels in fb + amz are identical, while g is slightly different
?? Amazon starts at L4. That said, an L5 at amazon would downlevel to an L3 at Google.

Is expected yoe really a thing ? I mean they say they will level you based on your interview performance. Don't how true is that though. Also things are different for people within the firm and those who come from outside
L4 is terminal for us now
The answer is quite different for the two companies (I worked at Google for two years before coming to fb.) Why are you assuming that they’re equivalent? I couldn’t answer your poll because the answer is two different timelines. I would have said 3-4 years for FB and 6-7 years for G.

They do not - ask anybody who has worked at both companies. Fb is known for its fast promo ladder (relative to all other FAANG companies.)
Less than 5 YOE for fb
I was an external hire, so 7. But most externals tend to be more than 7. Those promoted to E5 from E3 could be more like 3.5-5. There’s a ton of external E4 hires as well so I would say the average probably skews later.
