Bitpay is offering my salary in bitcoin... seeing how bitcoin grew 800%+ in a year. I don’t mind my salary growing 800% either.

I’m not a big bitcoin guy though I was told to buy when it was sub penny... I’m not sure if it’s going down either...

Should I take my salary in bitcoin or should I only accept it in USD?

Think about it this way, USD loses at least 20% purchasing power year over year due to the expansion of the money supply. BTC has gained 200% year over year due to scarcity and network effects

As bitcoin’s price grows it becomes stronger and less volatile to the downside because of network effects

You are only taxed on the gains you have made with Bitcoin. If Bitcoin value in usd was the same or less when spending as you did when you got paid, then you pay no taxes. In fact if you take a loss you can write those losses off

    • you salary is pegged (hence your future buying power) to an asset that keeps depreciating over rent, commodities, and hard-assets. Your salaries should be pegged to an index of those assets so you don't lose buying power over time due to a few people that have their hands on the printing press button.

This is one of the more moronic posts I’ve seen on Blind. Why would you ever want to be paid in something less liquid than cash? Take cash and buy Bitcoin if you like it so much lol

    • No idea why people value 'liquidity' so much when their future salary is pegged (hence their future buying power) to an asset that keeps depreciating over rent, commodities, and hard-assets. You guys should demand salary pegged to global stock market index, real estate price, and commodities.

It depends. If he is being offered a fixed USD amount, but denominated in BTC you are correct about liquidity.

But if he is being offered a fixed BTC amount, then that can be quite lucrative
