[Greater Seattle Area] Looking for builders who provide value for money

I do not understand why building a home in Seattle area (or probably bay area, NY, etc as well) cost two or more times more than elsewhere in the US. Anyone know builders who can and has built good (Rating: 8-9/10) quality homes for less than $150 per sqft?

Update: Looks like my preface to the question is taking this post in a philosophical route. We can debate forever, but mostly interested in references or other useful comments at the moment.
