Yes, there is an org being shut down. No, it has nothing to do with covid-19 or cost cutting.
People there are not immediately fired and they look for other teams to join. This org has some very specific specialist and so many of them cant really find a team elsewhere.
This is not about a generalist engineering team being let go, but rather a change in how fb does some stuff that left specialist employees irrelevant. Sad, but these things happen
